Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program

Today I stumbled upon the Barnes & Noble summer reading program over at Making Ends Meet blog. I’m excited – our library’s summer program has been curtailed this year due to budget cuts, and I’ve been trying to find a good alternative.

Basically, your child reads 8 books then turns in the form for a free book (from a pre-selected list) at Barnes & Noble. Unfortunately, it’s limited to one per child, and grades 1-6.

You can get the flyer for the B&N program here

The program begins May 25.

Here Comes Summer!

We just got back from the last storytime of the year at our library. The kids are going to miss Miss Karen, but they’re stoked because it means the Summer Reading Program is coming up next! It’s the highlight of their year. Information is starting to leak already – we know the theme is going to be an Undersea Adventure, and rumor has it the “big” prize is going to be a pair of binoculars. In the past the prizes have been top-quality, so I’m looking forward to that. The kickoff party will be at the end of May.

Anybody else getting excited?
